European Parliament adopts Creutzmann’s report
The Creutzmann’s report pushes for the creation of a unified system in the EU for all gambling activities online. On November 15th, members of the European Parliament decided to adopt the text.
Creutzmann’s report
In his report, european deputy Jürgen Creutzmann reminds that online gambling is immaterial by essence, so borders have no control over it. Member states cannot be satisfied with local measures and gambling has to be ruled on a European level. The text proposes the creation of a global structure which will control all online gambling activities. The report also recommends drafting a «Green Book» on issues affecting the industry and more cooperation between member states.
The position of the European Parliament
By adopting the report, the European Parliament has chosen the installation of common standards for the benefit and protection of the players. In addition, it shows the importance of perfecting the licensing process. Finally, it recommends strict measures against member states maintaining a monopoly.
